DataBank was founded in 2002 by a small group of South African, Australian and Israeli entrepreneurs. The founders all shared a vision for an offsite, environmentally controlled data storage facility in Israel.

Today, DataBank services over 700 companies across Israel , managing over 250,000 backup media items. DataBank’s esteemed client base includes many of Israel’s largest companies, major banks, insurance companies, software development and high-tech companies.

In May 2007, DataBank inaugurated a new purpose built, state of the art media facility in the city of Petach Tikva (10 km from Tel Aviv). The new media vault is located three floors underground and is equipped with a robust and high level security system, CCTV, gas fire suppression systems and environmental controls. The new facility can hold up to 500,000 backup tapes and has potential for further expansion.

DataBank has been accredited with ISO9001:2000 certification for “Secure Storage, Transportation & Management of Magnetic Backup Media” by the Israel Institute of Quality Control and BVQI UK . This accreditation is renewed annually following a serious external audit of processes and controls. DataBank is the only company in Israel to receive such a certification.
