COMPANY HISTORY

DataBank was founded in 2002 by Anthony Harris, Evan Lever and two Israeli entrepreneurs. Anthony and Evan both worked in the Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) industry in Australia. In 2001, both Anthony and Evan shared a dream of establishing a DRP business in Israel. Together they researched the market in Israel and quickly discovered that the service of professional offsite data protection did not exist in Israel and they also discovered a strong demand for such a service.

During their research Anthony and Evan met Dennis Belostoky and Elad Gross who were looking to invest in a service business, they too saw the potential of DataBank and together the four partners established DataBank.

DataBank officially opened its doors on the 1st May 2002. Anthony and Evan worked day and night in building the business and setting up the "beta" vault. The original vault was located in the basement of the building and measured 18m2.

They wasted no time in getting on the phone and cold calling potential customers. The Israeli IT manager's loved the DataBank concept and the first agreement was signed in July. (They still remain a valued client today!)

Through 2003 DataBank grew rapidly to cope with the demand for the much needed offsite data protection service. The "beta" vault was nearing capacity and the decision was made to build a new vault in Or Yehuda.

In February 2004, the DataBank vault in Or Yehuda was inaugurated. The Or Yehuda vault was built to accommodate the company for 5 years. Due to massive growth, after only 2 years, the Or Yehuda vault was full and a new vault needed to be built.

A year was spent planning, designing and building the new DataBank vault in the city of Petach Tikva. The new vault was purpose built 3 floors underground meeting the strictest of international standards for media storage and security.

In a massive operation over a period of 4 weeks in May 2007, DataBank relocated its vault from Or Yehuda to Petach Tikva. During this operation of moving over 150,000 backup media items, no delivery was missed and every item was accounted for.

Today DataBank services over 700 customers and manages a media library of more than 250,000 backup media items. In its current facility DataBank can easily double in size without needing to build an additional archive facility.
